Meh
It's almost a 4 star....
This is a spin-off from Sayonara Game and Change World, but it's better than both of them. You don't have to read the earlier ones to like this one, but it does help with the history of the main character and keeping track of the large supporting cast.
Even though it's only 12 chapters, the chapters are all long, so the story isn't as short as it seems. The plot is good, lots of angst but no toxicity between the MC and ML, which was nice. The characters are likeable and have depth. There's a lot of build up so it's satisfying when they eventually get together. There's not a lot of sm**, but when it's there, it's hot.
Artwork is good and similar to the writer's other works. I did notice that the MC was drawn a lot more feminine than he was in the earlier stories and this seemed to worsen as the manga went on, which was pretty disappointing.
Definitely worth a read.

The straight-to-gay trope not always feels realistic, especially when it comes to adult characters past their 30's because you don't suddenly "become gay." However, there are people out there that do fall in love with a person regardless of their genre, and I think that's the case here. Hoizumi and Asahi make a wholesome and se** pair that will make your heart ache with the progress of their relationship and the depth of their feelings. I also recommend the sequel!
